RFID has been replacing bar code from the commercial market since last decade. It has shown efficient way of tracking down the items tagged with it. Its reader is so strong that there remains no need to be in line of sight strategy. It is prevailing nearly in every walk of life.
Mechanism of RFID is quite simple as it is consisted of two components;
Reader is Effector and receptor both. First of all as an effecter it transmits the interrogatory signals to search for the existence tag to read. Secondly as a receptor it collects the information about all the tags in the range of the readers. This reader performs dual function yet it is not so complicated. It is basically comprises of two units radio for generating the radio waves and computer to control the complete network of tags. Readers are now coming in more advance technology to control, monitor and manage the tags in more efficient way. The reader is now able to manage the tagged items from a remote location. It is so fast that in fraction of second it can read multiple tags clearly. In a bulk it can coordinate with individual tags with no pain. It is good at its job to locate the tags. Lastly it can read a tag without being in a line of sight and on the conveyor belt it reads easily how many tags are passing on it.
Tag is the replier signal to the reader call. RFID tags are efficient and bear all the important information. They are of different designs and are available in different sizes as per item. The new improved tags are smaller yet efficient to reply to the reader’s call. Ultra High Frequency RFID tags are now available in the market that gives the ease of placing it on the items in variety of ways.
There are two major types of RFID tags;
Active tags respond automatically to the reader when it finds it in the way. The intensity of their signals is quite strong and it can access the reader in between 100 meters range. It can sense the reader itself. It has a logger file of the information data with comprehensive amount of memory.
Passive tags’ signals are of less intensity. To sense these tags, reader needs to send signal and tags then response in their respective.
